Salinas Californian reporter Roseann Cattani won 14 awards, including 8 first-place honors in photography and news categories, in the 2025 California Journalism Awards sponsored by the California News Publishers Association.
Cattani has worked at The Californian for nearly two years, covering every aspect of the community including Salinas City Council, small businesses and environmental issues.
Editor Sheyanne Romero praised Cattani’s recognition as a reflection of both her individual excellence and her dedication to local journalism.
“Roseann’s work consistently demonstrates the power of local reporting — holding institutions accountable, telling deeply human stories and connecting readers to the communities they call home,” Romero said. “These awards are well-deserved recognition of her dedication, skill and the impact her journalism continues to have in Salinas.”
