Firefighters stopped the spread of a 67-acre grass fire burning roughly 12 miles southwest of Red Bluff on Wednesday, June 17.
The Round Fire was 75% contained as of 9:30 a.m., according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
The fire started before 11:35 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16 near Gallatin Road in the small agricultural town of Redbank, according to Cal Fire. That area is northwest of the Ranch Tehama Reserve, and west of Interstate 5 in Tehama County.
Aided by hot dry air and fueled by very dry vegetation, the blaze grew to engulf 50 acres of grassland by 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, Cal Fire said; but almost non-existent wind slowed the fire’s spread.

The fire didn’t threaten any homes or other structures, firefighters reported on Watch Duty, an app that tracks fires and response to them.
Both agencies reported firefighters got a handle on the blaze, but crews will monitor the Round Fire for flare ups and hot spots until noon or later on Wednesday. Winds were still calm in the area around Red Bluff at 10 a.m..
The cause of the fire is under investigation, Cal Fire said.
