After signing with the Golden State Warriors in the summer of 2024, veteran guard De’Anthony Melton quickly fit in alongside Steph Curry in Steve Kerr’s backcourt rotation.
The seven-year veteran guard seemed to click in the opening stretch of the season with the Warriors. Through the first six games, Melton tallied double-figure scoring numbers in three games, including a 19-point and 14 14-point performance. With Melton in the lineup, the Warriors posted a 4-2 record.
However, his time in the Bay Area was cut short. Melton suffered a season-ending left ACL injury before being traded to the Brooklyn Nets in a package for Dennis Schroder.
After missing most of the 2024-25 season, Melton has been linked to the Warriors again in the offseason. According to Marc Stein of The Stein Line, the Warriors have “emerged as a strong contender” to bring the USC product back to the Bay Area for the 2025-26 season.
As the opening window of free agency has been quiet with signings, the Warriors have been linked to multiple players, including Melton, Al Horford and Bradley Beal.
In six games with the Warriors, Melton averaged 10.3 points on 40.7% shooting from the field and 37.1% from deep to go along with 3.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 20.2 minutes per game.
