The San Francisco 49ers got left guard Ben Bartch and center Jake Brendel back in the lineup last week against the Los Angeles Rams, and now there’s even better news for the offense heading into Week 11.
According to NBC Sports’ Matt Maiocco, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan announced that quarterback Brock Purdy will start against the Arizona Cardinals at State Farm Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Purdy, who signed a five-year, $265 million extension this past offseason, has missed eight of the team’s first 10 games due to a toe injury. In his two starts, he’s led the team to a 1-1 record, completing 65.8% of his passes for 586 yards, four touchdowns and four interceptions.
Purdy, appearing on KNBR Thursday afternoon, shared updates on his health.
“I feel really good,” Purdy said. “I feel healthy and excited to be back and ready to go and lead the guys. I’m really excited about this week… I had a turf toe variation, if that’s what you want to call it. But from multiple sources and doctors and everything, they looked at it and they said there’s no need for surgery.”
Mac Jones has done well in Purdy’s place, leading the team to a 5-3 record in his eight starts and completing 69.6% of his passes for 2,151 yards, 13 touchdowns and six interceptions.
