Pete Carroll doesn’t have to be too concerned in the month of June about the long-term health of his players. The Las Vegas Raiders play preseason games in August and won’t start their NFL regular season until September. If a veteran player is out of commission now, it’s not a problem. Being healthy in mid-August and ready to make an impact in Week 1 is the goal. Raiders Wire notes that one key player faces that general timetable:
“It’s pretty common that there are a few players this time of year who are held out of practice while rehabbing from something. Whether it’s an injury from last season or just a little nagging issue they are dealing with. But for the most part, the Raiders are pretty healthy.
“Of the 91 players on the roster, the only player not practicing is DT Christian Wilkins. Granted his absence is significant. He is still dealing with the foot injury he had last season after suffering a setback in his rehab this offseason. His target for return in training camp.”
Christian Wilkins is a big name in NFL circles. The Raiders certainly need to get something significant out of him in 2025 if Vegas is going to make a strong run at the playoffs. It’s too early to panic, but Pete Carroll will need Christian Wilkins to be healthy in early-to-mid-August if the Raiders are to enter the season fundamentally on schedule.
