A 42-year-old man died after being struck by a truck in an agricultural area on Telegraph Road near Santa Paula Sept. 27.
The California Highway Patrol responded to the 14100 block of West Telegraph Road after a Ventura man called around 8:24 a.m., saying he had hit a pedestrian, according to a CHP news release.
The 74-year-old motorist was driving his Ford westbound on Telegraph when he pulled into his driveway and struck the pedestrian with his truck, authorities said.
Andrew Dowd, Ventura County Fire spokesman, said crews were dispatched at 8:22 a.m. and found a patient with severe injuries in critical condition.
While the man was being transported to the hospital, he suffered a cardiac arrest, and paramedics continued to treat him until arrival at the hospital, Dowd said.
He was later pronounced dead, CHP officials said. The identity of the pedestrian has been withheld pending notification of next of kin, authorities said.
No arrests were made, and drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash, authorities said.
The CHP’s Moorpark-area office is investigating the crash and has requested that anyone with information call 805-553-0800.
It’s the latest deadly incident of a pedestrian in recent days. A person died late Sept. 25 after being struck by a vehicle on southbound Highway 101 in Ventura.
