Ohio State could be ranked No. 1 when it visits USC this season

The standards and expectations Ryan Day has set for the Ohio State Buckeyes have not moved, even after the Buckeyes lost four players in the first 11 picks in the last NFL draft. The Buckeyes, on paper, are still the best team in the country, and they are back aiming to avenge last season’s failures.

In a recent article, Nick Kosko provides insight on the Buckeyes starting the season as the top dog in college football. Here is what he had to say.

“Ohio State is back high up the Coaches Poll as well as in the national championship conversation. With QB Julian Sayin, WR Jeremiah Smith and RB Bo Jackson back, the offense is one of the best in the country, if not the best.

It’ll be on the defense to replace a lot of NFL-bound talent this fall. But with transfers such as LB Qua Russaw (Alabama), the Buckeyes might certainly make up for it when it comes to having a fast and attacking defense.”

Julian Sayin was as efficient as a quarterback can be as a freshman and ended up being a Heisman finalist. Jeremiah Smith will be the best player on the field in any game. Running back Bo Jackson is a perfect complement to an efficient passing attack, as he can break defenses down on the ground. The Buckeyes lost a lot of talent on defense, but by no means will there be a huge regression on that side of the ball. This will be the best team in the country this season, and the USC Trojans will have to face them in Week 11.
