NFL analyst makes extremely bold prediction for Myles Garrett in 2026

The anticipation of seeing the Los Angeles Rams in action continues to ramp up as we get closer to the start of the 2026 NFL season. The hype surrounding the team is spearheaded by their star-studded roster, and after the addition of NFL Defensive Player of the Year and NFL single-season sack record-holder Myles Garrett, the belief is that the Rams have the pieces to play complementary football.

At times last season, the offense and the defense would have to pick up the slack for one another, and while the Rams’ ability to grind out victories makes them one of the NFL’s best, they also had a plethora of missed opportunities. With Garrett on one side of the ball and MVP Matthew Stafford on the other, NFL Network’s Marc Ross believes the Rams, through their overall operation, will give Garrett enough opportunities to win the 2026 MVP.

“Myles Garrett will be the first defensive player since Lawrence Taylor in 1986 to be the NFL MVP,” Ross said of his bold prediction for 2026. “Myles Garrett was a one-man show for the Browns for years. Set the NFL record in sacks with 23 last season. Now imagine what he’ll do with the Rams and all that talent, where he’s actually playing with a lead, and he can just go hunt sacks now, whereas opposed to being with the Browns, where he’s behind all the time to get double- and triple-teamed and still producing.

“So now this season he might get to 30 sacks with the way the Rams will be winning games, and he can just go there in the fourth quarter and go close games out, so Myles Garrett, he’s going to end that streak. It’s been a quarterback-friendly, basically a quarterback award at this point. But Myles is going to leave no doubt to say, “I am the best player. I am the MVP in the league, and get the 30 sacks.”

Garrett’s record-setting campaign did not result in any major consideration for the 2025 MVP. Garrett did not finish in the top six, nor did he receive a first-place vote.

If Garrett is to have any chance at winning MVP, he will not only have to re-set the sack record, but he will likely have to add forced fumbles and takeaways to his stat line. He may also need to contribute on offense, so if the Rams want to push the Garrett MVP agenda, don’t be surprised to see him as an eligible receiver.
