Makenna Koffee Co.’s Hawaiian-themed lattes are gaining a foothold in Ventura County.
The company, which started in Simi Valley, currently operates eight locations in the county and is planning a ninth at 2148 Harbor Blvd in Ventura. The empty lot was previously occupied by a Denny’s before it was demolished in 2024.
Makenna Koffee Ventura County locations include:
Makenna is known for specialty drinks, including the Maui Latte. The Maui Latte, made with “handcrafted Maui milk,” is the company’s signature drink. Other popular drinks, according to the company’s websites, include a Legend drink made with a vanilla caramel macchiato and the Sandy Blonde with white chocolate and caramel.
Food options range from ham and cheese croissants to lemon blueberry coffee cakes with lemon glaze.
According to the company’s website, additional locations are planned beyond Ventura County:
Ventura’s Community Development Director Rachel Dimond approved permits June 15 for a 2,000-square-foot café on Harbor Boulevard with outdoor seating, a drive-thru and other site improvements.
Construction on the new location could begin in seven to eight months, with a potential opening by summer 2028, said architect Josh Cardenas after the meeting.
The proposed Ventura site would be bordered by Highway 101 to the north, an Arco gas station and convenience store to the west and Wienerschnitzel to the east.
