Londynn Jones delivers smack talk on UCLA after USC Trojan debut

Londynn Jones made her USC Trojans’ debut on Tuesday and the former Bruin played great, scoring a team-high 16 points in USC’s 87-48 win over New Mexico State but what she said postgame will catch the eye of her former supporters.

During her postgame press conference, Jones was asked if she and her family burned their UCLA gear following her transferring to join the rival Trojans. While Jones didn’t go as far to say she burnt the UCLA clothing, she let everyone know that her Bruin days are behind her.

“We don’t wear blue anymore.” Jones said.

Jones played 108 games as a Bruin but then joined USC this offseason following the Bruins’ Final Four appearance a season ago. UCLA replaced Jones with Gianna Kneepkens and a healthy Charlisse Leger-Walker who will combine to take Jones’ spot in the starting lineup. Jones was held scoreless in the Bruins’ Final Four loss to UConn and scored only five points in UCLA’s Elite Eight win over LSU.

While Jones donned the blue and gold for a long time, her 5’4” stature and streaky three-point shooting (35.1% last season) made her a replaceable piece for Cori Close’s squad. USC is ranked No. 18 in the country even with star JuJu Watkins set to miss the entire season, which should open things up for Jones.

Jones came off the bench in her Trojans’ debut but spoke highly of her experience in her first non-UCLA game of her collegiate career.

“The experience is always different, I’m just really glad I’m over here,” Jones said. “Me and Coach Lindsay have history.”

Jones played 19 minutes off the bench, going 6-11 from the field, 0-3 from three and 4-4 from the free throw line with three rebounds and three assists.
