Through the 2024-25 season, the Los Angeles Lakers have had a total of 506 players suit up for them, going back to their days in Minneapolis. Some were forgettable, some were serviceable, some were good and a select few were flat-out legendary.
During the Lakers’ 80th season of existence (they were founded back in 1946 as the Detroit Gems in the National Basketball League), LeBron Wire is taking a look at each player who has worn their jersey, whether it has been a purple and gold one or the ones they donned back in the Midwest during their early years.
After three years at the University of Arizona, Jordan Hill was taken with the No. 8 pick in the 2009 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks. Midway through his rookie season, Hill was traded to the Houston Rockets, and late in the 2011-12 campaign, he was sent to the Lakers in exchange for Derek Fisher and a 2014 first-round pick.
Hill was with the Lakers through the end of the 2014-15 season and was often a starter for them. The 6-foot-10, 240-pound big man played primarily the power forward and sometimes filled in at the 5, and he averaged 9.9 points and 7.2 rebounds in 22 minutes a game during his time with them.
He left the NBA in 2017 and had a short stint in the North American Premier Basketball league afterward. He finished his NBA career with averages of 7.9 points and 5.8 rebounds in 18.8 minutes per game.
