Burger Box in Indio is temporarily closed after a car crashed into and heavily damaged its building, the restaurant said on Sunday, Aug. 2.
On Instagram, the restaurant said Indio police called Sunday morning to inform it about the collision. A video shows a large hole in the front wall of Burger Box, with broken glass, concrete and other debris piled together in what appears to be the kitchen. Broken glass is also littered across the floor in front of the building.
Burger Box will be closed while it assesses the damage and does repairs, the restaurant said. The longtime spot closed for several months after the building was sold but reopened in 2025 after an employee leased the building.
“This is heartbreaking for our family and our team, but we’re committed to rebuilding and coming back stronger,” Burger Box said. “We truly appreciate your patience, support, and understanding during this difficult time.”
The Desert Sun has reached out to Indio police for more information on the collision.
