Golden State Warriors 2025-26 player grades: Jonathan Kuminga

Although Jonathan Kuminga ended his contract dispute with the Golden State Warriors last offseason, fans knew it was only a matter of time before the former No. 7 overall selection was traded. After consistent DNP’s and early injuries to begin the year, Kuminga only made 20 appearances for the Warriors before a midseason trade sent him to Atlanta for Kristaps Porzingis.

In those games, Kuminga made 13 starts, averaging 12.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 0.4 steals in 23.8 minutes per game. Kuminga’s shooting percentages were quite similar to previous seasons, his rebounding numbers were slightly up and his defensive numbers were a tad worse. Of all stats, the biggest drop-off was in Kuminga’s scoring, averaging 15.3 and 16.1 points in the two seasons prior. Regardless, it seemed as though Kuminga was just going through the motions until a trade was completed. Despite the potential he showed at times, this marks another young Warrior whose tenure ended with a saga and a trade. Now with one season left on his current contract, it remains to be seen whether or not the Hawks will exercise their club option to retain Kuminga for next season or negotiate a longer deal instead.
