GoFundMe created for off-duty Stockton USPS driver killed in crash

The family of a Stockton United States Postal Service employee who was killed off-duty in a car collision has created a GoFundMe to help with funeral expenses.

Joshua Lor, 31 of Stockton, died on May 2 following a collision on Clayton Avenue and El Dorado Street.

When Stockton police arrived at the scene the found Lor unresponsive. Officers performed live-saving measures on the man until he was taken to a hospital, where he died.

The GoFundMe, created by Lor’s sister, has collected $5,954 out of a $11,000 goal.

Lor’s sister said her brother was the oldest of 10 siblings and had worked for months as a city carrier assistant. Recently, Lor had earned a permanent position as a letter carrier with USPS, his sister added.

She said on the day of her brother’s death he had just finished his mail route, turned in his postal vehicle, and was headed home. He was two minutes away from home when the semi-truck collided with his vehicle, Lor’s family said.

His sister said he was still wearing his work uniform and his badge when he died.

“Just last week, he proudly drove home the first car he had ever bought, something he had worked so hard to achieve,” Lor’s sister said. “He was finally beginning to build the future he had dreamed of, step by step, with so much hope.”

She described her brother as someone who was hard working, a kindhearted soul, always putting others before himself and dreamed of a better future for their family.

She added that he carried the weight of responsibility of being the eldest with quiet strength, love and unwavering determination.

“He showed his love in the smallest, most meaningful ways. He would ask if we had eaten and go out to bring us food. He patiently taught our younger siblings how to drive. He helped with errands without ever being asked,” Lor’s sister said. “If we hadn’t seen each other in a while, he would call just to check in, asking if we were okay, if we needed anything, or if we were coming by. Sometimes, he would even offer us pocket money, just to make sure we were taken care of.”

She said the “quiet acts of love” meant everything and the family will miss the most.

The family said they are asking for donations to not only help cover funeral costs, but to also ease the financial burden.
