Zamarron is trained by Channel Islands High School graduate and former IBF world junior lightweight champion Robert Garcia.

The 25-year-old Zamarron (11-0, 5 knockouts), who lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, has faced stiff competition in recent fights.

In his last bout on Nov. 29, 2025, Zamarron faced fellow unbeaten Alejandro Meniano, scoring a knockdown en route to a unanimous decision. Meniano also entered the bout unbeaten.

On Aug. 9, 2025, Zamarron squared off against Brandon Douglas in a clash of southpaws. Zamarron broke down Douglas in each round, scoring a knockout win in the fourth.

“He has more confidence,” Garcia said of Zamarron. “He trains alongside (Ring Magazine champion and unified world junior bantamweight titleholder (Jesse) ‘Bam’ (Rodriguez), (unbeaten junior middleweight) Vergil (Ortiz), and (IBF lightweight titleholder Raymond) Muratalla.”

Zamarron also trains alongside and regularly spars unbeaten featherweight Albert Gonzalez, who scored a knockout win over Brandon Chambers on March 21.

In previous interviews, Garcia has spoken highly of Zamarron and his skill development and ring IQ. He believes Zamarron has the ability to become a legit contender in the featherweight division.

“The plan is to have him at 126 pounds and look to fight for a world title in the next couple of years,” said Garcia.

Allen (12-8-1, 6 KOs), who resides in Las Vegas, defeated Oxnard resident Erik Ruiz by unanimous decision in his last bout on Feb. 16, 2025. Less than four months before the Ruiz fight, Allen scored a knockout win over fringe contender and once-beaten Carlos Jackson.

In the main event of the card promoted by DMG Boxing, Brandon Adams (26-4, 16 KOs) of Watts and Caoimhin Agyarko (18-0, 7 KOs) of Northern Ireland will square off in a 12-round IBF world title elimination bout.

Simi Valley bests Oxnard

Alberto Alvarez of Simi Valley defeated Oxnard’s Erik Ruiz by decision on March 28 at Thunder Studios in Long Beach. All three judges scored the bout 60-54 in favor of Alvarez, who goes to 11-1, 7 KOs.

Ruiz, a 2010 Oxnard High graduate, landed a series of right hands to the head of Alvarez, even momentarily stunning him at the end of th first round. From the second round on, Alvarez outboxed Ruiz, who dealt with an injured right hand during the last couple of rounds.

The 34-year-old Ruiz falls to 17-14-1, 7 KOs. He has lost his last seven fights.
