Fourteen area teams to compete in CIF-SS girls tennis playoffs

Fourteen area teams will compete in the CIF-Southern Section girls tennis playoffs. The pairings were announced on Saturday, Nov. 1.

All first-round matches are scheduled for Wednesday.

In Division 2, Marmonte League champion and fourth-seeded Calabasas (13-1) will host Temecula Valley. Marmonte League runner-up Westlake (18-6), which beat Calabasas in the Division 1 final last season, will host Yorba Linda. Coastal Canyon League champion Oak Park (14-1) will host Troy.

Four local teams will play in Division 4.

Coastal Canyon League runner-up Camarillo (9-6) will travel to Valencia-Placentia. Fourth-seeded Oaks Christian (8-6), which finished third in the Marmonte League, will host La Serna. Simi Valley (14-5), which finished third in the Coastal Canyon, will play at Alta Loma. Agoura (9-9), an at-large selection out of the Marmonte League, will host West Torrance.

In Division 5, top-seed Thacher (9-3), which finished second in the Tri-Valley League, received a first-round bye and will face the winner of Valencia and Oxford Academy in a second-round match on Friday, Nov. 7.

In Division 7, Ventura (6-8), which finished fourth in the Channel League, will play at Savanna.

Five local teams are in Division 8.

Frontier League co-champion Foothill Tech (6-5) will travel to Rim of World. Channel Islands (10-8-1), which finished third in the Citrus Coast League, will host Oxnard (7-6), an at-large selection out of the Channel League, in an all-county matchup. Third-seeded St. Bonaventure (9-8), an at-large selection of the Tri-Valley League, will host Edgewood. Hueneme (8-10), the fourth-place team from the Citrus Coast League, will visit Banning.
