Former Rams CB Marcus Peters hired as high school football coach

Marcus Peters has officially transitioned from playing football to coaching it. Like former Los Angeles Rams cornerback Troy Hill, Peters is making the jump to coaching.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Peters has been hired as the head football coach at McClymonds High School in Oakland. McClymonds is his alma mater, and he succeeds his dad, Michael Peters, in the role.

Peters was a star at McClymonds, earning All-Metro honors and graduating from the school in 2011. He was a volunteer assistant on the coaching staff the last two years, and now takes the reins from his father.

After attending McClymonds, Peters went on to play at the University of Washington and was later a first-round pick by the Chiefs in 2015. The Rams acquired him in a trade in 2018, and he helped them go all the way to the Super Bowl in his first season.

The Rams traded him to the Ravens in the middle of the 2019 season, making room for Jalen Ramsey, who they acquired in a deal with the Jaguars.

In his NFL career, Peters had 33 interceptions in 116 games, including seven that were returned for touchdowns.
