After months of work repurposing the former View 202 in Redding, DeVine expected to celebrate its grand opening Saturday, Feb. 7.
The restaurant, at 202 Hemsted Drive, will be open from 5 to 9 p.m.
Ahead of Saturday’s premiere, the restaurant opened its doors to first-responders on Thursday, Feb. 5, serving them a complimentary meal.
“This private event is our way of saying thank you for your dedication and bravery in keeping us safe every day,” the restaurant posted on its Facebook page.
View 202 closed last September after being in business more than a decade in Redding. The former restaurant opened in 2012. Prior to that, it had been Rivers, which was built and opened after the Hatch Cover restaurant burned down in 2006. Hatch Cover operated there for 28 years.
The building was sold last September to 202 Hemsted, a limited partnership, for $1.7 million, according to Shasta County property records. The building’s new owner does not own and operate DeVine, restaurant representatives have said.
The Hemsted Drive building went on the market after former owner Joe Wong died in 2024.
The same ownership group that operates DeVine bought the former Dry Creek Station in Bella Vista and is working to reopen that venue under the name Elwood’s Steakhouse.
“Elwood Ranch Beef is grass raised and grain finished, right here in Shasta and Siskiyou Counties, and we’ve been doing this for 150 years,” the steakhouse posted on its Facebook page on Jan. 6.
