A 21-year-old Desert Hot Springs resident died in a traffic collision in the city on Saturday morning.
Desert Hot Springs police responded to a reported traffic collision between a motorcycle and car around 7:30 a.m. at the Palm Drive and Dillon Road intersection, the Desert Hot Springs Police Department said.
The motorcyclist had major injuries and died at the scene, while the car’s driver and passenger sustained minor injuries and went to a local hospital. The Riverside County Coroner’s office identified the motorcyclist as Christopher Ventura.
Authorities are investigating the collision and preliminary information appears to show that alcohol was not a contributing factor to it, the department said. Southbound lanes on Palm Drive at Dillon Road were closed as police investigated the incident but have reopened as of around 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
