Two weeks before bringing in D.J. Humphries, the Los Angeles Rams signed a different veteran offensive tackle. They inked David Quessenberry to a one-year deal in late May, adding some depth to one of the most important positions on the roster.
Quessenberry has played 84 games in his career, making 30 total starts since 2020, showing the ability to play both left and right tackle. It remains to be seen exactly where he’ll play for the Rams, but his versatility is valuable – especially given Alaric Jackson’s health scare and Rob Havenstein’s injury history.
Over The Cap released details of Quessenberry’s contract, which is a one-year deal worth a total value of $1.33 million. It comes with $1.3 million fully guaranteed, as well.
The Rams can still cut Quessenberry if they choose but doing so would leave behind $1.13 million in dead money and only save them $195,500 in cap space. In all likelihood, this contract means he’ll make the 53-man roster and be one of the primary backups at offensive tackle.
That’s bad news for other tackles such as Warren McClendon Jr. and A.J. Arcuri, who are on the fringe of the roster. Quessenberry could wind up being the swing tackle behind Humphries and Havenstein if Jackson is sidelined, giving him an inside track to making the team.
