Davante Adams is heading toward a new frontier in 2025. He’s playing in a new city on a new team with a new quarterback, and the expectations are high for him to play well this season.
He seems to understand that pressure, but it also doesn’t exist just for him. Adams broke down three players he also wants to see do well in 2025 on other teams in a discussion with ex-NFL running back Fred Taylor on “The Pivot Podcast.”
Adams picked Jacksonville Jaguars receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback (and two-time ex-teammate) Aaron Rodgers, and current Seattle Seahawks receiver Cooper Kupp.
“I want to see Travis Hunter do his thing because he’s got a lot just going on,” Adams said. “That’s one that I’d really love to see him going ball, whether it’s offense or defense.
“I think Aaron, just similar to me, like, a little bit of a, you know, media storm that kind of act that discounted a lot of what we did.
“Right now, I would say just based off the situation and me coming in here and people leaving, I’ll say Cooper Kupp. I’m I’m a big Cooper Kupp fan and it would have been awesome for us to all play together. It’s just obviously — team is not big enough for all of that.”
That trio is super interesting for a variety of reasons.
For one, Adams will likely play Hunter (if he stays at cornerback as well as receiver) when the Rams face the Jacksonville Jaguars in London in Week 7. But Hunter is a compelling character in the league as he tries to do something no one has successfully done since Deion Sanders.
Rodgers makes a lot of sense given Adams’ connection to him — both from their long history with the Green Bay Packers and their short time with the New York Jets in 2024. Rodgers, too, will be on his third team since he left the Packers.
Finally, Adams’ picking Kupp as his third player he’s rooting for is a nice nod to Rams fans that will have to watch one of their favorite players elsewhere in 2025. Adams did effectively come in to replace Kupp, but that was the team’s choice to move on from the veteran in exchange for Adams. So it’s a bittersweet arrival for Adams given the legendary player he replaces, and now he’ll get to watch Kupp twice a year in Seattle.
