The Coach store in Cabazon is branching out from selling luxury leather goods with the opening of a coffee shop on Friday, May 8.
This isn’t a new concept for the popular fashion company — five other cafes are located in Texas, New Jersey, New York and Arizona. But it is the first Coach Coffee Shop in California. Customers can find it inside the Coach storefront at Desert Hills Premium Outlets.
Marcus Sanders, Coach’s vice president of global food & beverage, said opening inside “one of the most iconic shopping destinations in the country” was a natural next step for the coffee shop’s future. Three more locations are opening in Kansas, Texas and Nevada, according to Coach’s website.
“Coach has always been more than products; it’s a spirit, and an invitation to experience something unexpected,” Sanders said. “The Coach Coffee Shops are the fullest expression of that — every detail in Cabazon, from the local artwork on the walls to the tap beverages, was designed with our guests in mind.”
The coffee shop takes inspiration from New York corner stores and “reimagines the vintage diner through a vibrant, playful lens designed to transport visitors to Coach’s hometown,” the company said in a press release. Its Cabazon location features Palm Springs artist Annie Bolding’s work.
Customers can order from a menu that includes Coach’s coffee blend, espresso-based drinks, cappuccinos, matcha, lemonade and pastries. The most Instagram-worthy of its desserts is most likely the “Tabby Cake,” a cake shaped like Coach’s much-loved Tabby bag.
The Coach Coffee Shop also sells merchandise with its mascot Lil Miss Jo, who is fittingly a coffee up. The cafe is located at 48-650 Seminole Road, Space K-1000. It is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., except on Fridays and Saturdays when it closes at 8 p.m.
