Cardinals hosting Mike LaFleur for 2-day head coaching interview

The Arizona Cardinals are making a strong push to pry Mike LaFleur away from the Los Angeles Rams and make him their new head coach. LaFleur is one of the top remaining candidates for Arizona and is scheduled to have a second interview with the Cardinals this week.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, LaFleur will meet with the Cardinals for an in-person interview Monday and Tuesday, his second interview with the team. LaFleur already had a virtual interview with Arizona but will now meet face-to-face.

LaFleur is currently the Rams’ offensive coordinator, a job he’s held since 2023 after Kevin O’Connell left to become the Vikings’ head coach.

The Cardinals fired Jonathan Gannon as their head coach after the season, so they’re one of three teams still searching for a replacement. Gannon landed with the Packers as their defensive coordinator this past weekend, wasting no time finding a new home as an assistant again.

The Rams hope to keep LaFleur for another season but he appears to be a top contender for the Cardinals job.
