Andre Iguodala opens up on infamous 2016 NBA Finals play

Former Golden State Warriors forward Andre Iguodala recently opened up on one of the most infamous NBA Finals moments he was a part of. Despite winning four championships and an NBA Finals MVP award, many non-Golden State fans remember Iguodala for another reason, being on the receiving end of a chase-down block from former Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James in Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals.

When reminiscing on the play with former Cavalier Richard Jefferson, Iguodala said, “All I heard was like a sonic boom. It sounded like somebody got shot. It was loud. When I heard it, I was waiting on the whistle for a goal-tend.” Iguodala went on to say that he still hears kids reference commentator Mike Breen’s call: “Blocked by James!” Despite suffering the loss, Iguodala and the Warriors would get their revenge next season, defeating the Cavaliers in five games to win the 2017 NBA Finals.
