49ers work out 7 players, including 6 WRs and 1 QB after injuries and contract dispute

The San Francisco 49ers may be looking to add wide receiver depth just ahead of training camp.

According to KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson, the 49ers had six WRs and a quarterback in for a workout Monday. 49ers veterans report to training camp Tuesday.

The six WRs included Quintez Cephus, Grant Dubose, Ramel Keyton, Stanley Morgan, Brandon Powell and Equanimeous St. Brown. QB Spencer Petras also threw for that group.

It’s not a huge surprise the 49ers are diving into the free agent WR market before camp. Brandon Aiyuk and Ricky Pearsall are both on the PUP list while they work their way back from injuries. Jauan Jennings may also sit out practices because of a contract dispute.

With three WRs out, it leaves a ton of reps on the field during practice. Getting players in the building just to take those practice snaps may be a necessity. However, if Jennings winds up getting traded or if Pearsall’s injury is something that lingers into the preseason, the 49ers may be in the market for a WR who can actually compete for a roster spot.

It’s not out of the question we see at least one of the players who worked out Monday wind up on the team sometime before camp practice begins Thursday.
