The San Francisco 49ers may technically still employ wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, but the former first-round pick has completely soured his relationship with both the team and his teammates over the last year or so.
While waiting for his eventual release, Aiyuk has been posting videos on social media calling the 49ers dumb and has essentially acted like he’s already a member of the Washington Commanders despite being under contract with San Francisco.
In a recent interview on “Pardon My Take,” 49ers tight end George Kittle told co-host PFT Commenter, who is Commanders fan, what Aiyuk looked like the last time he saw him on the field.
“The last time I saw Aiyuk was, call it Week 6, 7 or 8. I don’t really know,” Kittle said. “I used to make it a habit of mine to go out early in the morning before meetings to watch him train because he’d always be out there early, and I watched him run over 22 miles per hour and watched him stop on a dime. He’s still got him, but that was eight months ago, so I don’t really know. You guys have fun with that, I guess… You have fun that all that comes with it.”
When Commenter joked that Aiyuk would finally be happy once he was officially on the Commanders, Kittle continued to take shots at his teammate.
“You’re right. I wouldn’t be happy either after a team paid me a $130 million,” Kittle said.
It’s clear that Aiyuk’s antics are rubbing people in the building the wrong way, even guys like Kittle, who will go above and beyond to protect his teammates.
