San Francisco 49ers left tackle Trent Williams is being sued by OpenRoad Auto Group, a Washington-based car dealership, over an unpaid lease on a 2018 Porsche 911, according to TMZ.
OpenRoad claims Williams signed a four-year lease for the vehicle in August 2021, agreeing to 48 monthly payments before the lease’s expiration on Aug. 31, 2025. The dealership alleges Williams made just the first two payments, totaling $10,617.26, via bank debit before closing the account and never paying again.
The company says it doesn’t know the current location of the car, alleging Williams may have sold it to a car company that then resold it to another party. OpenRoad is suing Williams for breach of contract, fraud and other claims, seeking $244,199.28 in past-due payments, plus additional charges, attorneys’ fees and litigation costs, per TMZ.
Williams, 38, is entering his 16th NFL season and sixth with San Francisco. A 12-time Pro Bowler and three-time first-team All-Pro, he was selected fourth overall by Washington in the 2010 draft and has started 203 of 204 career games at tackle. He’s widely regarded as one of the best offensive linemen of his era and a future Hall of Famer.
The lawsuit comes months after Williams signed a two-year, $50 million contract extension with the 49ers in April, a deal that runs through the 2027 season.
TMZ reports it has reached out to Williams for comment and has not yet received a response. San Francisco has not commented on the matter.
