The Wichita Falls City Council will meet in special session at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday for a strategic plan update and budget work session.
The meeting will be in the Seminar Room of the Multi-Purpose Events Center at 1000 Fifth Street and is open to the public. It will be livestreamed on the city’s website.
Property taxes will be on the agenda.
The estimated tax bill for a Wichita Falls median-valued homestead in the 2026-27 fiscal year will be $7.12 higher than the present year if the proposed city budget and tax rate are adopted, according to the city, or $34.74 more per year compared to a no-new-tax-revenue rate.
Total revenues and expenditures for the coming fiscal year would be $330.3 million, almost a 24.9% increase over the present year.
“Much of the growth is attributable to planned capital projects and other one-time expenditures rather than ongoing operating costs,” the city said on its website.

The budget proposed adds 20 new employees during the next budget cycle.
