The Pistons shared some big broadcasting news for their fans in western Michigan on Monday.
The Spot Grand Rapids 17 andFOX 17 WXMI-TV will become the new television home of the Pistons in Grand Rapids. The free broadcast will begin for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
The news comes three months after the Scripps-owned The Spot Detroit 20 and WXYZ announced that the company would also broadcast Pistons games locally in Detroit for the first time since 2005.
“We are proud to expand our partnership with the Detroit Pistons to deliver their games to more people than ever before through free, over-the-air TV — one of the best ways to connect teams with their fans,” E.W. Scripps Company regional vice president and general manager Mike Murri said in a statement.
As part of the collaboration, the Pistons and Scripps Sports will also produce game-day coverage that includes pregame, in-game and postgame programming. The deal will also include a weekly half-hour show focused on the Pistons, along with original team-centric content integrated across Scripps’ family of channels, both in broadcasts and digital programming.
“The Spot Grand Rapids 17 is honored to be the official TV home of the Pistons in Grand Rapids,” general manager and director of sales FOX 17 WXMI-TV Gary Baxter said in a statement.
“Detroit Basketball is on the rise and now we can ensure that more fans throughout our community can be part of their ascension.”
