A Shelby Township man was arrested Saturday, Aug. 8 at the Raft Off in Muskamoot Bay after one of the attendees was reportedly stabbed.
Salem Asmar, 26, was arraigned Monday in St. Clair County on a charge of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder.
A news release from the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office states the 21-year-old victim was stabbed following a disagreement during the Raft Off.
The sheriff’s office’s news release stated most people behaved during the Raft Off and enjoyed the day, but there were multiple fights that broke out during the day. The release also states over 50 people were stranded when they failed to return with the parties they arrived with.
“We welcome all to come enjoy Lake St. Clair but violence is not something that will be tolerated on the water,” Sheriff Mat King said in the release. “Our Marine Deputies take safety seriously and those who are behaving irresponsibly or are breaking the law, will face consequences.”
Asmar’s bond was set at $100,000. A preliminary examination is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Aug. 26.
