The San Francisco 49ers are bringing back undrafted tight end Khalil Dinkins according to the Athletic’s Matt Barrows.
Dinkins was one of the 49ers’ UDFA signings following the 2026 draft and looked like a potentially intriguing back-of-the-roster option. He was primarily used as a blocker in college at Penn State, but when he contributed in the passing game there seemed to be some athletic pop that indicated there may be some pass-catching upside. With the Nittany Lions Dinkins caught 37 balls for 399 yards and three touchdowns in 47 games.
The 49ers waived Dinkins with an injury designation just before training camp began. He spent the offseason with San Francisco and now will get an opportunity in the final week of the preseason to try and carve out a place on the team’s practice squad.
