49ers have have two new players not practicing after preseason loss

The San Francisco 49ers took on the Tennessee Titans on Thursday, with Kyle Shanahan keeping most of his starters on the bench, and they fell 19-13 in their preseason opener at Levi’s Stadium.

Just two days later, the 49ers are back on the practice field at their SAP Performance Facility, as they continue to work through training camp and prepare for their next preseason matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.

At the beginning of practice, 49ers insider Cam Inman reported that defensive end Nick Bosa and running back Christian McCaffrey were not seen in uniform, which isn’t a surprise. However, Inman also reported that quarterback Kurtis Rourke and wide receiver KhaDarel Hodge also aren’t practicing.

Rourke suffered a rib injury early against the Titans that landed him in the hospital, so he’ll probably need some time to heal. Hodge caught one of two targets for 15 yards on Thursday, but it wasn’t reported that he suffered an injury.

Inman also mentioned that fullback Kyle Juszczyk, wide receiver Christian Kirk and offensive lineman Brett Toth were among those working on the side. NBC Sports’ Jennifer Lee Chan also added that linebacker Dre Greenlaw is in uniform but is working to the side with the medical staff.

Wide receivers Mike Evans and Jacob Cowing and cornerback Jack Jones are practicing. Jones left Thursday’s game with a hand injury and didn’t return, so it’s good to see that he’s at least participating as practice starts.
