The San Francisco 49ers will face the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium on Monday night in an interconference matchup that could propel Kyle Shanahan’s squad into a higher position in the division and conference standings.
Ahead of the game, the 49ers announced a trio of roster moves, as they activated defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos from injured reserve and called up cornerback Eli Apple and linebacker Eric Kendricks from the practice squad.
Gross-Matos, 27, has appeared in five games for San Francisco this year, recording four tackles, one quarterback hit and a pass defensed. He landed on injured reserve in early November due to a hip injury. He should receive plenty of opportunities on the edge going forward.
Apple, 30, has spent the entire season on the 49ers practice squad after stints with the New York Giants, New Orleans Saints, Carolina Panthers, Cincinnati Bengals, Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles Chargers. This is his third and final elevation for the season, and with Renardo Green out, he could actually play this week.
Kendricks, 33, joined San Francisco’s practice squad in late November after sitting out nearly three months. The former All-Pro could play an important role for the 49ers down the stretch with Fred Warner out for the year.
