A break-in at Thousand Oaks High School last month led to the arrest Aug. 7 of three Thousand Oaks teens for their alleged role in the theft of computers and other electronics.
Deputies with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office responded to the high school on Moorpark Road July 24 for a burglary, according to a news release. The city of Thousand Oaks contracts its police services from the sheriff’s office.
School resource officers determined five Apple computers and keyboards valued at about $2,700 had been taken and $800 in damages done to a school building, sheriff’s officials said. Deputies said they were able to connect the thefts to a 15-year-old boy, a 17-year-old girl and an 18-year-old man.
Deputies later executed a search warrant at the 18-year-old’s home. Based on his statements and evidence collected, he was arrested on suspicion of felonies for burglary and conspiracy to commit a crime as well as a misdemeanor for contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to the sheriff’s office. He was booked into Ventura County jail and is being held on $50,000 bail, according to jail records.
Deputies said they also searched the 15-year-old’s home where they found the computers and keyboards. He was taken into custody and booked into at the Juvenile Justice Center on suspicion of burglary and conspiracy to commit a crime.
The girl is also facing prosecution for burglary and conspiracy. She has since signed a notice to appear in court, sheriff’s officials said.
