The main buildings of the city of St. Clair will continue to look good over the next year.
At its regular meeting Feb. 3, the city council extended the contract with its cleaning service, TRM Cleaning, 1510 Preservation Lane, St. Clair, for one year.
The firm is owned by Tammy Markwardt.
On her bid sheet, Markwardt quoted $1,040 per month to clean the municipal building on Carney Drive; $410 per month to clean the Department of Public Works building; and $540 per month to clean the Community Center on Fourth Street. The monthly total is $1,990. The annual amount is $23,880.
The contract was retroactive to Oct. 1, 2024, and runs through Sept. 30, 2025.
“They have been our cleaning service for the past three years for the municipal building, the DPW building and the Community Center,” said City Superintendent Quentin Bishop, as heard on the recording of the meeting by CTV-Channel 6, posted on YouTube. “I’m recommending a one-year renewal of the contract… Over the last three years they have not increased, have not added onto, have not cost the city any more money. This year, they have asked for a slight increase and a one-year renewal. My recommendation is that we move forward…”
The buildings are cleaned multiple times monthly, said Bishop.
The final vote was 7-0.
