Port Huron Elks Lodge 343 – Beacon Grant Presentation

By The Port Huron Elks Lodge 343

The Port Huron Elks Lodge 343 represented by 343 Elk members, Inner Guard Mike Hailfax, Esquire Fred Massad, & Scott R. Harris DDGER, ENF Chairman & Grant writer had the pleasure of presenting the 2025-2026 ENF-CIP Beacon Grant $4,000.00 on Friday, September 19th to Mid-City Nutrition Program. MCN serves our local community in St. Clair County, Michigan. MCN has continued to grow as they now serve 400-500 meals daily. They have moved into a new facility, with more space, and those in need can now dine in again for the first time in over 5 years. This is a huge time of transition and comes with many unknowns as prices continue to rise and future access to subsidized food is uncertain. They rely on grants like this to make sure they can continue.

The staff of employees and volunteers are good, caring people who continue to focus daily on the war against hunger in our local community for many years. MCN program serves hot and healthy prepared meals daily, to anyone in need, including children, the elderly, and many local Veterans.  Lunch is served (6) days a week, Monday through Saturday. Dinner is served (6) evenings a week, Sunday through Friday, 52 weeks a year. This grant will help alleviate some of the stress and strain on the staff and many volunteers; while knowing they can purchase food products and items not regularly donated, with the help of this monetary grant.
