LANSING − The REO Town Clubhouse Team sent out a plea for patronage on social media on Wednesday, June 17.
In a time when various local restaurants have shut their doors, the “REO Town Clubhouse Team” said its restaurant risks the same fate if business doesn’t pick up.
“The reality is that independent restaurants are facing challenges unlike anything we’ve seen before,” the team wrote. “Rising food costs, operating expenses, labor costs, and changing consumer habits have made it increasingly difficult for local establishments to survive.”
The team called upon the public to visit the restaurants, saying every visit, recommendation and event booking supports the restaurant.
“When you support a local restaurant, you’re supporting local jobs, local families, local vendors, and the community itself. You’re helping keep unique, locally owned businesses alive in Lansing,” the restaurant’s team wrote. “We believe REO Clubhouse is worth fighting for, and we’re committed to doing everything we can to continue serving this community for years to come.”
REO Town Clubhouse opened in January 2025 in the space that previously housed Ellison Brewing Co. The restaurant serves Italian food, specialty pizzas and craft cocktails.
This year it was the site of Quality Dairy’s annual paczki eating contest.
Restaurants throughout the region have been facing hardship, with the Big Boy in Mason closing after nearly five decades, East Lansing’s Coral Gables shuttering at the end of this month, and the last Smokey Bones location in Michigan closing in April.
