Woman accused of knife attack appears in Monroe County District Court

The woman who allegedly attacked two men with a knife appeared in court on Thursday, Oct. 17.

Arlene Green appeared in Monroe County District Court before Judge Christian Horkey for a probable cause conference on charges of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, aggravated domestic assault, and assault with a dangerous weapon.

Green’s lawyer, Michael Rataj, requested a preliminary exam date of Nov. 4, so he could have time to obtain a copy of the body cam footage of Green’s arrest on Oct. 1. According to Rataj, the footage he received had no sound.

Rataj also requested a personal bond in place of the $50,000 cash or surety bond Green is currently on. However, Judge Horkey said given Green’s criminal history the cash or surety bond would remain, but he did concede to cut the bond in half.

Monroe County Prosecutor Jeff Yorkey and Rataj declined to comment on the case.

Green is accused of attacking two men with a knife on Oct. 1. That day, Monroe police officers responded to reports of a woman armed with a knife in the 800 block of Harrison Street about 1:40 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found two men, both 50 years old. One had a “severe” laceration to his right leg, according to a release from the Monroe Public Safety Department, and the other had a puncture wound in his abdomen.

Her next court appearance is set for Nov. 4 at 1:15 p.m.
