Two more players from “Survivor” season 50 joined the jury Wednesday, May 13, leaving five to compete in the three-hour finale next week.
The “Survivor” semifinal episode included two immunity challenges and two tribal councils. In the end, Rick Devens and Cirie Fields were sent home.
In the first immunity challenge the players had to stack building blocks that spelled “immunity” on a moving table which they had to hold steady with a rope. Joe Hunter won and chose to share a reward of barbeque ribs, potato salad, cornbread and coleslaw with Rizo Velovic and Fields.
In the second immunity challenge, players had to move through an obstacle course to gather building blocks to form an arched puzzle that spelled “inconceivable.” Tiffany Ervin won potentially saving herself, since others had talked of voting her out.
Marching into the finale — airing May 20 — with the chance to win the $2 million prize are Velovic, Ervin, Hunter, Jonathan Young and Aubry Bracco. Velovic continues to hold onto a “Billie Eilish boomerang Idol.” None of this season’s players was from Michigan, although numerous past castaways have been from the state.
During the episode, host Jeff Probst revealed how fans may have one final say in season 50: the fan favorite vote.
From May 13-20, fans may select their favorite player to win $100,000 online via https://survivor50cbs.votenow.tv./ donated by long-time fan and Australian singer-songwriter Sia, who has donated money to her favorite players in previous seasons.
“Over the past 20 seasons, global pop superstar Sia has personally awarded over a million dollars to the players who moved her most — the ones who, in her eyes, truly embodied the heart and essence of the game. But this season is different. In the spirit of ‘In the Hands of the Fans,’ Sia is turning that power over to YOU. You get to choose who best represents the spirit of Survivor. You decide who receives the $100,000 Sia Fan Favorite prize. One vote. One choice,” CBS said.
Here’s more on how Devens and Fields were voted off and how to watch the season 50 finale:
Who was voted off ‘Survivor’ semifinals?
In the first tribal, Devens was the obvious vote and he knew his time was coming to an end.
Ervin drummed up a plan to use Devens as a shield to vote out Velovic to flush out his idol, but the tribe didn’t budge and everyone voted for Devens, who became the eighth jury member.
In the second tribal, Bracco and Fields were on the chopping block.
Fields attempted to push the votes onto Bracco by lying and saying to Young and Hunter that Bracco leaked their initial plan to vote out Ervin — when it was really Velovic who passed on that intel. Despite her attempt to save herself, Fields received the majority votes and became the ninth jury member.
