There is a lot of positive hype and talk around the Spartans’ offensive line this preseason, and one of the reasons for that is the return of Kristian Phillips.
Phillips is back for the Spartans this year after suffering a season-ending injury early last year that caused him to miss the final 11 games. He is in the midst of a battle for one of the five starting spots on the offensive line, and on Thursday, he caught up with the local media to discuss a number of things — one of which being his recovery back from last year’s injury.
“That was my first major injury,” Phillips said during his media availability this week. “It was horrible, the process was long. But I was able to get through it with the support that I have with this team. … I’m just ready to get back out there and play.”
In his career, Phillips has appeared in 12 games — including 11 games during his redshirt freshman season in 2023. If he can be back to full strength this fall, he will surely be an impactful player up front for the Spartans’ dynamic offense.
