It’s summer and hot dog season. For many, it evokes childhood memories of enjoying them at Fourth of July celebrations and ballparks.
In a survey by USFoods.com, Americans said they eat an average of two hot dogs per month and were willing to pay $5.88 per hot dog.
More than two in five Americans say they eat more hot dogs during certain months, especially in summer.
Different parts of the country opt for different toppings. In the South, mustard ranks supreme but Floridians prefer ketchup.
Mustard, onions, relish, tomatoes, peppers, celery salt and a pickle spear are popular picks in Chicago. New Yorkers go with spicy brown mustard and onion sauce. Michiganders prefer chili.
We asked Monroe News’ readers for nominations for the best place for a hot dog in Monroe County. Several locations made the list. You have until noon Saturday, July 12, 2025 to tell us which one is your favorite.
