It’s time to vote for the Detroit Free Press Boys Prep Athlete of the Season.
This week’s poll features three players who had the highest votes from our Athlete of the Week polls during the 2025 MHSAA spring season – two from baseball and one from track and field.
Voting will be open until 12 p.m. Friday, June 27. We’ll announce the winner here shortly after the poll closes.
Here are the nominees (listed in alphabetical order by last name):
Thomas Laskowski, Southgate Anderson
The senior pitcher for the Titans led the team to a 24-13 overall record and a second-round district playoff appearance. Laskowski went 5-3 as a pitcher with 3.00 ERA. He also had a .345 batting average with 30 runs, including eight doubles, one triple and 24 RBIs.
Evan Morrison, Macomb Dakota
Morrison’s final season with the Cougars earned him his first career All-State honors. The first baseman had a .420 batting average and collected 32 RBIs along with 13 doubles and three home runs.
Max Ward, Elk Rapids
Ward set school records in the 110m and 300m hurdles and earned a Division 3 state championship in the 400m. He also earned his second consecutive individual state championship in the 300m hurdle event.
