GAYLORD ― The Gaylord Herald Times Athlete of the Week poll is back!
Each week, candidates from Gaylord, St. Mary and Johannesburg-Lewiston High School will be nominated for their performances over the past seven days. Come back and vote for who you think had the best performance; winners will be announced on social media on Tuesday.
Kaven Cole, Gaylord football
Cole rushed for 124 yards and another TD in the Blue Devils’ 37-9 win over Cadillac, helping Gaylord stay undefeated both overall and in Big North Conference play.
Jaron Bensinger, Gaylord football
Bensinger led the way with 9 tackles while forcing two fumbles that led to 14 Gaylord points in their 37-9 win over Cadillac.
Logan Greenier, Gaylord St. Mary football
Sophomore Logan Greenier scored three of GSM’s four touchdowns in a 40-0 win over Onaway, rushing into the endzone with runs of 3, 5, and 25 yards.
Nathan O’Connell, Gaylord St. Mary football
Returned to action against Onaway with a 63-yard touchdown pass to Cal Royce and a 15-yard TD run.
Addison McDonald, Gaylord volleyball
The senior leader reached 500 kills in her career on Tuesday, Sept. 23 in a loss to Traverse City West.
Katie Berkshire, Gaylord cross country
Berkshire set another new personal best time while winning the Shepherd Blujay Invite with her first sub-17-minute time, clocking in at 16 minutes, 58.7 seconds.
Lily Sargent, Gaylord swim and dive
Sargent broke a long-standing record in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:35 at the Manistee Invite on Thursday.
Payton Glasby, Gaylord St. Mary volleyball
Led the Snowbirds to a sweep of their rivals from JoBurg.
Hailey Bober, JoBurg volleyball
Bober led the team with 39 digs as JL won the St. Ignace tournament over the weekend.
