Vote for the Bronson Battle Creek Athlete of the Week for girls sports for Sept. 8-13

BATTLE CREEK — Meet the Battle Creek Enquirer Athletes of the Week, presented by Bronson Battle Creek Hospital.

Each week during the high school sports season, we will ask our readers to vote for the top performance of the week in all high school sports, taking a look at events from Monday-Saturday. In 2025, the Enquirer will have an Athlete of the Week for boys sports and an Athlete of the Week for girls sports.

Make sure to vote early and often for your pick, as the winner will be featured in an Athlete of the Week spotlight story in the Sunday edition of the Enquirer. Fans can vote for their favorite athlete until Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Nominees for Battle Creek Enquirer Athlete of the Week for girls sports:

Ella Bushman

Harper Creek Golf

Freshman Ella Bushman led the Beavers to the team title at the All-City tournament as Harper Creek had a score of 187 to take first. Lakeview was second with 228. Harper Creek won the team title for the second year in a row as Bushman shot a 41 for the nine-hole tournament to earn medalist honors.

Ella Laupp

Harper Creek Girls Swimming

Sophomore Ella Laupp helped Harper Creek win the All-City Girls Swimming and Diving Championship for the first time since 2017. Laupp was All-City champ in two events as an individual, winning the 200 individual medley in a time of 2:19.6, and taking first in the 100 butterfly in 1:03.53. She also swam the anchor leg on the tournament-clinching first place 400 relay.

Emerson Manning

Lakeview Volleyball

Emerson Manning helped the Spartans win the Lakeview Invitational. Lakeview split thee matches in pool play and then beat Notre Dame Prep in the quarterfinals and Plainwell in the semifinals. Lakeview defeated Portage Northern in the championship, 25-16, 25-20. Emerson Manning played big on defense with 69 digs for the tournament.

Josie Pawlowicz

Lakeview Golf/Swimming

Senior Josie Pawlowicz finished with All-City honors in two different sports during the week. Pawlowicz finished third at the All-City Girls Golf Tournament as the high finisher for Lakeview with a round of 48. Pawlowicz also competed in the All-City Girls Swimming and Diving Championships and was All-City champ in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:12.8.
