BEDFORD TOWNSHIP, MI — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office has provided an update on the investigation into two deaths that occurred in Bedford Township on Saturday, June 14.
Gwendolyn Smith, 17, and Ryne Leist, 33, both of Temperance, were found dead in a residence in the 1600 block of West Sterns Road.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau is still investigating the circumstances leading to their deaths. The autopsy occurred today, but they are still awaiting the results on the cause of death from the Lucas County Coroner’s office, according to the sheriff’s office.
“Sheriff detectives are working diligently to conduct a complete investigation into this tragic incident; weask for the communities’ patience as this investigation continues,” the sheriff’s office said in a Monday, June 16 release.
The release stated there is no threat to the community at this time.
