Toddler run over by family member in Bedford Twp.

A 2-year-old child was in stable condition after being run over by a family member Tuesday, April 7, according to the Battle Creek Police Department.

Rescue crews responded to the incident in the 100 block of Finley Avenue in Bedford Township shortly after 6 p.m.The family member driving the vehicle told officers that when they stepped outside of the home, they had left the 2-year-old child inside with the child’s mother and another child.

As the family member began to drive their truck out of the driveway, they saw the family’s dog was outside. At the same time, the family member stated that they felt their truck drive over something, and that was when they spotted the child on the ground in the truck’s rearview mirror, police said. The child was alert and conscious, with no obvious signs of severe injury other than abrasions, following this incident. The child was treated on scene by LifeCare Ambulance and the Bedford Township Fire Department, and was later transported to Bronson Hospital of Kalamazoo in stable condition.
