Willow Run Airport’s beloved annual air show says that despite current air quality advisories, they will fly on and remain excited for fans to witness some very rare airborne visitors.
The playbill includes the British Royal Air Force Red Arrows in their first U.S. tour since 2019, and a demo team for the F-16 Viper, a new multisonic fighter aircraft.
“Stars, Stripes, and 250 Years” is this year’s theme for Thunder Over Michigan, an annual air show in the Ypsilanti area. The show features a festival with close-up new and historic warplanes, rideable attractions and interactive fun for all ages.
Time remains for event goers to reserve their spot to watch the show this weekend – where they can tailgate near the control tower, wine and dine with fresh barbecue or purchase a ride in a B-25 Bomber and a UH-1H Huey Greyhound helicopter.

What you’ll see
The air show will feature a star-studded cast of visitors around the world, featuring the U.S. Air Force F-16 Viper Demo Team, the Royal Air Force Red Arrows, the Jack Aces P-51 Team and more.

Attractions for the family
The Adventure Zone at the air show features a place for kids and families to enjoy hands-on activities, chat with educational programs, and learn some aviation history. Visiting organizations include the University of Michigan’s Mracing Formula team, local aviation programs, and Tuskegee Airmen Oakland County.

The event has several ticket packages for viewing the airshow on its website. On their tickets page, eventgoers can schedule flight experiences, upgrade to dining packages, or purchase a spot to tailgate.
