The Detroit Pistons have four different uniform options for the 2025-26 season.
Yet they are wearing their white jerseys and shorts in Game 5 (7 p.m. ET, Prime Video) for the fifth consecutive game in their first-round series against the Orlando Magic in the NBA playoffs.
Why is that?
Well, there’s no big uniform conspiracy.
According to the team, Pistons players wanted to wear white for home games and the Magic wanted to wear black and then blue in their two home games. This resulted in the Pistons also wearing white on the road in Games 3-4.

There is no rule stating one team must wear white, so the Pistons perhaps could have switched to one of their black uniforms for Game 4 against the Magic’s blue. But perhaps the visual contrast would not have been as pleasing as wearing white.
The Pistons’ black Statement Edition jersey, which has been in the lineup for multiple years, features “DET” across the chest underlined by two stripes of blue and red horizontally. Their new black City Edition uniform features teal lightning bolts on the shorts along with red and gold accents.
The Pistons are 1-3 in the their whites, while the Magic are 2-1 in black and 1-0 in blue. The Magic are wearing their black and white pinstripes once again in Game 5 as they try to become the seventh 8-seed to knock out a 1-seed in NBA playoff history.
The Pistons trail in the series, 3-1, and should be desperate to avoid becoming just the third 60-win team to lose to an 8-seed in the first round.
