PETOSKEY — City manager Shane Horn provided an update on ongoing road construction taking place downtown during the Petoskey City Council’s meeting on Monday, April 20.
In the Howard Street reconstruction from Mitchell to Michigan streets, sanitary sewer work has started.
“We are completing sewer tie-ins as they are crossed. We hope to have this work completed by the end of the week,” Horn said. “Water main work will begin next week.”
Horn added that the demolition of the intersection at Mitchell and Howard streets will happen concurrently with the water main work.
“This would include curb and sidewalk on the stretch from Mitchell to east of Howard,” he said.
This project has an anticipated mid-June completion.
In the Park Garden lot project, Horn said demolition has been completed.
“Curb and gutter and sidewalk along Lake Street has been removed and replaced,” he said. “The planter area separating the sidewalk from the parking lot has been poured as well. Storm sewer work started today. We hope to have that work completed by the end of the week.”
This project is expected to wrap up by the end of May.
