Amber Criner was arraigned Wednesday in 39th District Court in Roseville, the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office said.

The 32-year-old is charged with two counts of fourth-degree child abuse, according to authorities.

A judge set Criner’s bond at $50,000 and scheduled her next court hearing for May 13, the prosecutor’s office said.

If convicted, she faces up to a year in jail for each charge.

“I understand the public is concerned after seeing the videos on social media,” Peter Lucido, Macomb County Prosecutor, said in a statement. “Our priority is to ensure accountability and to protect vulnerable members of our community.”

Criner’s attorney, Kevin Schneider, was not immediately available for comment on Monday.

Criner is among the Michigan residents who have recently been accused of child abuse.

Last month, a Pontiac woman convicted of child abuse and who allegedly left her children alone in squalor in an apartment was sentenced to 129 months and 20 years in prison.

Also in April, an Oakland County judge terminated the parental rights of another Pontiac woman accused of leaving her kids alone in a rental home for years.

In February, three family members of a Pontiac 9-year-old who was allegedly tortured and malnourished, along with his 11-year-old brother, were ordered to stand trial on child abuse charges. Their next hearing in Oakland County Circuit Court is scheduled for June 18, according to court records.
